This year, seven Westchester County Parks will celebrate milestone anniversaries. Join the celebrations and take part in several events across the county this year honoring the roots, trails and timeless views of the Parks Department!
Celebrate Ward Pound Ridge Reservation’s 100th Anniversary on Saturday May 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a day of events that pay homage to the Reservation’s mission and history, in addition to family-friendly activities. Event is free; registration is required. Last fall, the Reservation launched its 100-Mile Hike Challenge and those who complete it will be honored during the celebration.
Saxon Woods Park is also turning 100 this year and has a fun summer planned! The pool will launch its 100-Lap Challenge on Saturday, June 28 alongside a Family Fun Day event full of games and competition. The Lap Challenge will conclude Saturday, Aug. 2 alongside movie night, featuring Encanto. Registration for the 100-Lap Challenge is coming soon!
Mohansic Golf Course will hold a golf outing Friday, July 25 to celebrate its centennial and participants will have the chance to play with vintage golf clubs. Fees for Westchester County residents will be rolled back all week to celebrate. Outing information and how to register will be released shortly!
The Westchester County Center is celebrating 95 years, and we want to hear your favorite memories! Share them with us, or come in for us to film them for an upcoming video highlighting the County Center. Additional celebration details will be announced soon!
Cranberry Lake Preserve is celebrating 50 years and is marking this milestone with a history presentation and hike on Sunday, Aug. 3. Cranberry’s anniversary date is Aug. 5, which falls during its popular summer nature camp, and the campers will hold a birthday party for the Preserve with a variety of activities and crafts.
Muscoot Farm has three days of celebrations planned for its 50th year! On Friday, Sept. 12 the Friends of Muscoot Farm will host a dinner, honoring the farm and those who have helped to make it what it is today. Then on Saturday and Sunday, September 13 and 14, the farm will host a two-day festival with music, tours, activities, food and more for the whole family to enjoy!
The Bronx River Parkway Reservation, Westchester County’s first linear park, turns 100 and has several volunteer opportunities coming up this year to help preserve this special park in celebration of its Centennial. A larger celebration is planned for the fall, which will include classic cars, history presentations and more. Stay tuned for details!
