Become a part of our crew, learn life-saving skills and work with an award-winning lifeguard team at Westchester County Parks’ pools and beaches this summer! Salary starts at $16 an hour.

At this time training to become a certified lifeguard is available only to applicants who accept a position as a Westchester County Parks Lifeguard. Those interested are required to sign up for lifeguarding/first aid and CPR/AED training for the professional rescuer with Westchester County Parks.

December training class ONLY for those who will be working at Parks Facilities
Pre-test Location: Mark Twain Pool, 160 Woodlawn Ave., Yonkers, NY 10705 (directions)
Pre-test is Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon OR Monday, Dec. 19, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Class Location: Mark Twain Pool, 160 Woodlawn Ave., Yonkers, NY 10705 (directions)
Classes are Tuesday through Friday, Dec. 27 - 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants must be 15 years of age by the end of the class. You must be able to attend all classes to complete the course.

Job Requirements:

  • Applicants must be 15 years or older
  • Hiring preference will be given to Westchester County residents
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED for lifeguards certifications or equivalent required
  • Waterfront certifications required for beaches
  • Must pass Westchester County practical skills test
  • Must be able to work at varied locations
  • Background clearance will be required for applicants who are 18 years of age and older by Labor Day, and pre-employment drug testing is required for all applicants.

Upon completion of the Lifeguard Practical Skills Screening, successful candidates should have an exceptional customer service ethic and may be required to work weekends and holidays. In-service training program, full and part-time schedules available.
