May 13, 2025 – Ready to dig into spring? Whether you’re transforming your backyard into a private paradise or just love the thrill of fresh blooms, Lasdon Park’s Annual Plant Sale will offer something for everyone when it returns, Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18. Event and parking are free.

The Friends of Lasdon Park & Arboretum’s beloved community event will feature over a thousand plants, trees, shrubs, vegetables and flowers. It’s your chance to find the perfect additions to your landscape and bring vibrant color and life to your indoor and outdoor spaces. The sale will be on Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bring your own wagon or cart. Event will be held rain or shine.

County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “Lasdon’s Plant Sale is a delight. It’s exciting to choose from a huge diversity of plants, get expert advice from the Lasdon staff, meet fellow enthusiasts and appreciate the grounds’ gorgeous landscapes. Attendees will leave inspired, with inside tips from gardening professionals and confident to plant in their own gardens.”

In addition to a wide selection of spectacular annuals you’ll find nowhere else, the sale will showcase a variety of hummingbird-attracting plants, edible native shrubs, roses, hydrangeas, lilacs, poppies, peonies grasses, ferns, ground covers and the always-popular angel’s trumpets.

Commissioner of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation Kathy O’Connor said: “Lasdon Park & Arboretum is the perfect location for a first-rate plant sale. Its stunning landscapes, diverse plant collections and well-maintained gardens can easily serve as inspiration and an ideal backdrop. Everyone leaves with something special.”

The day will also include two 45-minute floral design workshops, from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., and from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m., hosted by the 9th District of Federated Garden Clubs. Participants will create their own simple, elegant designs perfect for their home’s dining table or accent table. Learn the principles of design that include size, scale, color harmony and balance. There is a $5 per person materials fee.

Westchester Cornell Cooperative Extension and Healthy Yards will be there to answer your gardening questions, and Mill River Supply will have all of your gardening needs for purchase.

All proceeds from the FLPA Plant Sale support public programs and children’s education.
