May, 7, 2025 – Muscoot Farm in Katonah will be the place for families this Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, when two of its most popular annual events take center stage: opening day of its Farmers Market and its Sheep Shearing Festival. Whether you’re a foodie, a farm enthusiast or simply looking for a great way to spend the day, you won’t want to miss this celebration.

Muscoot’s beloved Farmers Market will open for the season and run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Sunday through Nov. 16. The vibrant market supports local farmers and sustainable efforts while showcasing over 20 diverse vendors each week. Visitors can explore farm-fresh produce, artisanal goods, baked treats and more—all while supporting the hardworking farmers and small businesses that keep our community thriving. A list of this year’s vendors are available.

The annual Sheep Shearing Festival will run until 3 p.m. At noon, a professional shearer will shave a ewe or ram. The celebration will also feature wool-spinning demonstrations from a collective of professional spinners, kids’ activities, and all of Muscoot’s animals on view in their pastures and pens. Hayrides—moms ride free!—will run (weather permitting) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($5 per person, free for ages 2 and under). Muscoot’s concession stand will offer ice cream, candy, hot dogs, hamburgers and salads. There will also be live music.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “Going to the Sheep Shearing Festival and Farmers Market is a great way to spend this special day for moms. Everyone has fun seeing the sheep getting freed of their winter wool, and picking out fresh and delicious food from the market is always a delight.”

Westchester County Parks and Recreation Commissioner Kathleen O’Connor said: “Muscoot is entertaining every day of the year, but it’s especially alluring when there’s a special event. Celebrate Mother’s Day the Muscoot way—where farm fun meets local flavor!”

This event is free and will take place rain or shine. Restrooms will be available for visitors’ convenience.

Alfred B. DelBello Muscoot Farm, a 777-acre, early-1900s interpretive farm, is a Westchester County Park. It’s open daily and offers the public a variety of interpretive programs on weekends throughout the year.
