May 4, 2023 – Muscoot Farm’s sheep will get their spring haircut this Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its annual Sheep Shearing event. A professional shearer will shear a sheep every half hour beginning at 11 a.m.

The family event will include wool-spinning demonstrations, wool vendors, children activities and the farm animals will be on view to visit during the event.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “Muscoot Farm is a family favorite in the Westchester County Parks system. Its programming is always fun and provides an excellent educational element for youngsters.”

Westchester County Parks and Recreation Commission Kathleen O’Connor said: “People of all ages look forward to Muscoot’s annual sheep shearing. They’re fascinated by the shearing process and love being in a farm environment.”

The Farmers Market will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Event is free and will be held rain or shine. Dogs are not permitted.

Alfred B. DelBello Muscoot Farm, a 777-acre, early-1900s interpretive farm, is a Westchester County Park. It is open daily and offers the public a variety of interpretive programs on weekends throughout the year.
