May 12, 2021 – If you’re wondering what to fill your garden with this year, look no further than Lasdon Park & Arboretum. Over a thousand plants, trees, shrubs, vegetables and flowers will be on sale this weekend at the Annual Plant Sale.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, and from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 16.
County Executive George Latimer said: “Lasdon is one of our most beautiful parks and has a number of unique features including the Trail of Honor, Dinosaur Garden and Chinese Friendship Pavilion, but for the plant lovers, the landscaping around the main house and groves is unmatched. Before you pick out your plants, I encourage you to walk the grounds and get inspired.”
In addition to the classic varieties of annuals, perennials, native perennials, and vegetables, customers will now be able to purchase house plants including Monstera deliciosa, Anthrium, Calatheas, Lemon trees and Angel Trumpets.
For those looking for something unique, the Friends of Lasdon Park & Arboretum have secured a number of rare trees including Rocky Mountain Bristlecone Pine, Giant Sequoia, PawPaw, Pagoda Dogwood, Sassafras, Franklinia and Saskatoon Serviceberry.
Commissioner of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation Kathy O’Connor said: “Our staff and the Friends of Lasdon Park are very knowledgeable and look forward to helping you find the plants that are right for your backyard garden.”
