Opportunities to sponsor events may occur unexpectedly, such as the construction of "The Rising," Westchester's memorial to those who perished on September 11, 2001. While the event represented a national tragedy, organizations that contributed to this unique and heartfelt memorial will be forever associated with it by those who come to visit.

We also have events such as Bicycle Sundays that are recurring and offer organizations the chance to target families who come together to exercise and enjoy the fresh air as well as the beauty of the Bronx River Parkway.

Here is a sampling:

The Rising - September 11th Memorial at Kensico Dam Plaza
In honor of the Westchester residents who perished on September 11, 2001, “The Rising” has become a destination for reflection and hope for the future. Designed by nationally renowned architect Frederic Schwartz, “The Rising” is constructed of intertwined stainless steel rods that soar to 80 feet. The names of Westchester victims, along with personal quotes about them, are inscribed on a raised granite base surrounding the memorial. Schwartz also designed the state of New Jersey Memorial.

For the memorial to be an everlasting tribute, donations are needed to as endowments to care and maintain the site and the gardens and landscaping that surround it. With every donation, "The Rising" truly became a community memorial, uniting those who were not personally affected with those who have lost loved ones and who seek to preserve their memory.

All donations to the Westchester Parks Foundation, whether cash or in-kind, are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged. Contributions over $100 will receive a special certificate. Individual funding programs are available and can also be created. Call (914) 995-2951 for additional information.
