The Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation & Conservation is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, creative individual to assist in the Office of Marketing and Public Relations. This is an hourly position with a great deal of public interaction both in writing and over the phone communication.

Duties and Responsibilities
Including but not limited to assisting in:

  • Providing community outreach to organizations and community groups
  • Writing news releases, advisories and scene-setters/talking points
  • Creating content for web and social media
  • Creating copy for brochures and other traditional media
  • Media events produced for the department and in conjunction with other agencies or partners
  • Providing reception backup
  • Planning meetings, conferences, and promotional events
  • Preparing summaries and reports as required
  • Use of computer applications and other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word-processing etc.
  • May perform other incidental tasks, as needed

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Pursuing higher degree of education in Marketing, Communication or Media a plus
  • Possess creative writing skills
  • Knowledgeable in social media, web design and illustration
  • Background Check is required

Hours and Salary
Commensurate with experience.
Seasonal, hourly position, Monday through Friday, may include some weekend assignments.
