Grass Volleyball Tournament

Play Grass Volleyball in Westchester County.

Volleyball players of all skill levels are invited to take part in the first Co-ed 4s Grass Volleyball Tournament, Saturday, Sept. 22, at Tibbetts Brook Park, Yonkers.

Skill levels include advanced, intermediate and novice. Co-Ed teams two men and two women (roster maximum, six players), $30 per person. Cash prize for first place in each division. Check in starts at 8 a.m. and games start at 9 a.m. sharp. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 23.

The Saxon Woods Garage Sale will take place Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Saxon Woods Pool in White Plains.

Browse the seller booths for great deals on clothing, household items, furniture, toys, sports equipment, books and more. 

Admission and parking for shoppers are free.

Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 23.

Westchester County Car ShowRev up your engines and come to the Westchester County Car Show, Sunday, Sept. 30, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon.

The show will feature displays of a wide variety of classic and collectible cars, street rods, and motorcycles, all carefully restored to mint condition or modified for performance.

The Westchester Street Rod Association will present more than 100 trophies to the best vehicles -- classified by decades up to modified 2018. For information on entering a car or bike, call (914) 260-9274, (914) 666-2057, (203) 536-0747 or (914) 844-8240.

For information about being a vendor at the event, call Beth Bricker at (914) 231-4645. Admission is free for spectators. There is a parking fee of $5 per car. In case of rain, the event will be cancelled.

The show is sponsored by Westchester County Parks, the Westchester Street Rod Association, Sassone Bros. Auto Body Repairs and Hasselman Racing.

Bicycle Sundays 2018Bicycle Sundays on the Bronx River Parkway, one of Westchester’s longest-running and popular recreational programs, starts Sunday, May 6. The program is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The program runs May 13 and 20, June 3, 10, 17 and 24, and September 9, 16, 23 and 30. No dates in July or August.

Bicycle Sundays, a Westchester County Parks program, is sponsored by Con Edison, New York Presbyterian Hospital, the Westchester Parks Foundation and Danny’s Cycles, with support from WHUD.

During Bicycle Sundays, the parkway is open exclusively for bicyclists, in-line skaters, scooters, walkers and joggers from Exit 22 at the Westchester County Center to Exit 4 at Scarsdale Road in Yonkers, a round-trip distance of 13 miles. The road is closed to automobiles in that stretch of parkway. Admission to the event is free. Parking is available at the County Center lot in White Plains for $7.

Rules and Regulations:
• Bicyclists, in-line skaters, scooters, walkers and joggers ONLY; no unauthorized motor vehicles allowed.
• Walkers, joggers and slower wheeled traffic must use right lane; faster wheeled traffic must use left lane.
• Helmets are required by New York State law for children under 14 years of age, including those riding in bike trailers, and are recommended for all wheeled participants.
• New York State law prohibits children under age 1 from riding on bicycles or in a separate seat.
• All headsets are prohibited; this includes but is not limited to music devices and hands free
• cell phones.
• No skateboarding allowed.
• No dogs allowed.
• Bicyclists must obey posted parkway speed limit of 40 m.p.h.
• Children riding in strollers must be strapped in at all times.
• Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
• All participants must be off the parkway by 1:50 p.m.


Mall Walk

Enjoy some window-shopping as you keep in shape during Mall Walks at The Westchester in White Plains. The program offers indoor health walking at Westchester’s premier mall on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 8 to 10 a.m. throughout the year.

A special guest speaker is presented on the first Friday of each month providing information on health issues, safety and nutrition. The talk takes place at 9 the Level One Nordstrom’s E-bar seating area. Admission and parking are free for all registered members of the mall walk program.

To join, sign up at the horse fountain plaza near Crate & Barrel on Retail Level Two, on Tuesday and Friday mornings during the program.
