Westchester Be Fit
The road to fitness starts with you. It's a fact that obesity is on the rise. It currently is the number one public health threat in America. Being overweight dramatically increases the rish of servious health problems such as heart disease, stroke, hgih blook pressure and diabetes. So Westchester County decided to take action to help its residents realize the importance and enduring value of exercise and eating properly. The Departments of Health and Parks and Recreation designed a comprehensive program call Be Fit Westchester which encompasses planned activities to help keep you focused on fitness. Whether it be a walk in the park on park trailways or a walk in the mall, with the Be Fit Mall Walking Club, 30 minutes of moderate physical activity five days a week is recommended to help keep adults in shape. Walking, biking, hiking, cross-country skiing and swimming are all activities that can be done right here in our county parks. Many of these activities are free of charge.
