Exhibit at Gallery in the Park

A new one-person show titled “Threads” that weaves together a rich tapestry of works using oil, metal, beeswax, paper, and paint by Ridgefield artist Suzanne Benton opens on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Gallery in the Park at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River. A highlight of the opening will be a live mask performance by the artist on the Gallery grounds.

This exhibition is a journey of light, color, life and nature. It includes Suzanne’s welded metal masks, many of them created around the world, as well as recent prints, landscape paintings, portrait boxes, and manifolds. Her work is immediately recognized by her use of rich color which is energetic yet ethereal; her work speaks of her interplay with world culture, history, myth and relationships.

Suzanne Benton’s art has been exhibited at museums, universities and galleries throughout the United States and abroad. A former Fulbright Scholar to India, Benton has received numerous grants and artist residencies worldwide. As a widely exhibited and noted sculptor, mask maker/performance artist, painter, printmaker, lecturer and workshop leader, she’s shared her multifaceted art for over 30 years in 29 countries.

“Threads” is on exhibit daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 31. Admission is free; parking is $4 with a Westchester County Park Pass, $8 without the pass.

The Gallery in the Park is part of the Westchester County Art in Parks program that brings changing exhibitions of sculpture, paintings, murals and other forms of artwork to Westchester County Parks for the appreciation of visitors of all ages.
